About

Formed in 1999, D.J. Ellis Construction Ltd is a national, multi-award winning construction company operating from offices in Westgate-on-Sea in Kent. We undertakes new build, design and build, refurbishment works, commercial works and works for the Local Authority in their schools, offices and libraries.

Our company ethos is clear and focused. We continually endeavour to achieve utmost customer satisfaction through product excellence and aim to provide the highest quality in terms of the work we undertake, our management approach and on-site conduct.

To achieve success in all our projects we adopt an approach where the client’s needs are always identified at the initial stages enabling us to deliver a coordinated package of support centred around these needs, thereby securing the best possible outcome for them. Collaboration throughout the supply chain is achieved via relevant regular meetings, and personal contact with all parties involved in the contract.

We are fully conversant with managing the design process through our experience gained from undertaking design and build contracts and indeed we regularly work with a varied supply chain of designers and consultants. This experience enables us to add value to projects where we are employed on a traditional basis.

Health and Safety is always of utmost importance to us and we have a robust safety management system which is put into fruition using strong policy and procedures and is underpinned by thorough and detailed risk assessment of all likely hazards and substances hazardous to health that may be encountered during our work activities.

In October 2009 we were awarded a Site Management Safety Award in recognition of outstanding achievement in the medium projects category at the H & K Safety Services, Safety Awards.

We currently employ 44 site staff, the majority of whom are skilled tradesmen. Our Office based staff are made up of very experienced estimators, surveyors, management, professional and administrative staff. We actively promote apprenticeship/trainee schemes and have a number at present involved in the following disciplines:

  • Plumbing
  • Plastering
  • Carpentry
  • Painting and Decorating

We also actively support placements for “Build it” trainees in partnership with “Groundwork” which is a charitable organisation involved with placing unemployed young people back in the workplace.

We currently hold ISO 9001-2008 accreditation status, are CHAS Compliant, and hold Constructionline Registration, Gas Safe Register and NHBC Registration. We are actively trying to achieve ISO 14001 accreditation status by 2012.
