The project consisted of forming a new entrance, waiting area and additional accommodation within the roof void of the main school to provide a new staff room (this also included the installation of a new staircase).
The work included extension to the existing roof with installation of Conservation Rooflights.
Plastering, decoration, new ceiling, new flooring, fitting new and replacement windows where necessary, new doors, new kitchen, modern lighting and safety lighting were also elements to the work.
A new staircase with appropriate fire precaution measures was also installed to give suitable access and egress to the new Staff Room.
External works entailed hard landscaping with the provision of paths and considerable but sympathetic repair to perimeter walls.
The School was occupied during construction work therefore site security was of utmost importance as was the Health and Safety of the Pupils and Staff. Close liaison was necessary with the school staff and our site workers to ensure all site activities ran smoothly and in tandem with the day to day activities of the school. Logistically the School is located on a narrow country lane as is the village itself therefore timely and efficient deliveries of materials and products was an important element of the project in order to cause minimum disruption to school and village life.
The project was completed successfully within the contract period and budgetary constraints.
