Dover College, Former Headmaster’s House

The project entailed the sympathetic refurbishment of the former Headmaster’s House to form a new state of the art Music Centre.

The extensive refurbishment work included plastering, decoration, new ceilings and fitting replacement windows where necessary. Modern lighting and safety lighting was also installed along with an up to date fire precaution system including new alarm and fire doors.

A new disabled toilet facility was also installed in the building as was an external platform lift at the rear of the building. The facility was also equipped with a number of bespoke sound attenuated music booths. This required the flooring in these areas to be structurally strengthened.

Externally, a high number of shrubs directly against the building were cleared and a new path was created.

The Main College building and surrounding grounds were occupied during construction work therefore the site was kept secure during the day as well as at the end of the working day. Health and Safety of the Staff and Students was of prime importance at all times as the college also boards a number of its students. Close liaison was necessary with college staff and our site workers to ensure all site activities ran smoothly and in cohesion with daily college life.

Working closely with the college and their appointed architect the project was completed successfully within the contract period and budgetary constraints.
